xDB Systems works with a large energy company providing a variety of services.

We offer database specialists who provide immediate support and resources as needed. We frequently assist the in-house DBA resources with systems support and maintenance tasks. One of the key services we provide is 24/7 support of critical production systems as well as round the clock availability of Informix experts to resolve any immediate issues, giving the client peace of mind that their systems will have available support anytime they need it.

Along with our support services, we have performed Informix upgrades and helped complete multiple re-platforming projects.  The systems rely on Informix’s TimeSeries functionality to efficiently store and process meter readings for several million meters, with frequent readings, resulting in a huge amounts of data – a single systems contains over 1.3 trillion meter readings and associated metrics.  The systems are 24×7, and efficiency and uptime are paramount.  We have worked on performance tuning, problem resolution, implementing backup strategies, and disaster recovery using replication between multiple data centers.  We have moved their databases across different architectures from AIX to Solaris, AIX to Linux, and Solaris to Linux, while minimizing downtime and making sure that the systems are reliable and able to handle that volume of data.

Ongoing work for a large supermarket chain.

The xDB team has provided DBA support for a large chain of grocery stores for many years. As part of our work with them we have provided 24/7 support for all their Informix instances and replicated environments, and worked as their primary DBAs. Regardless of the time day or night we answer the needs of the customer with our team of database experts. Along with the regular support we have worked larger projects with the customer, including several Informix version upgrades which were performed successfully and with minimum downtime. We also have worked with them to set up, and later on upgrade, Connection Manager to support all of their many connections, and implement PAM authentication. They are heavily invested in Informix and we continue to have an extremely positive relationship with them.

xDB team supports a large national non-profit.

Our team has supported an environmental non-profit for the past 14 years. What started as a small Informix problem has grown to include development of a full CMS system, development of a bespoke web based donation system. We also have developed completely web based applications that are used to fulfil major parts of the organization’s mission. Along with the development projects, our team actively supports their web servers and services. This involves support for outages, monitoring, system migrations and upgrades, and includes support for their growing cloud infrastructure. Along with web support, we have provided extensive support and administration to several large WordPress installations, including writing a series of custom plugins  to enhance the systems’ capabilities.

Informix support for a State level court system.

We have supported a state level court for a number of years . We have rebuilt their entire Enterprise Replication network to enable for faster and more reliable transactions as well as better data integrity. We worked extensively to build a new development infrastructure network. We also helped upgrade and improve their primary Data Warehouse system. We have worked hand in hand with their system administration team to support their new private cloud infrastructure. Along with all of that, we have restructured and reorganized their entire data storage system to better accommodate their 30+ TB of stored court images. Part of our support has also been being available to the rest of the team anytime they needed us, for training, support, problem solving, or otherwise working with not just the DBA team but also the backup administrators, system admins, the development team and the analysts.
